We all want to believe God is working in our behalf in every situation but isn’t it hard sometimes? It’s difficult to see and understand how God could possibly be working in our behalf in every situation we face.
There is a guy named Jonathon who was the son of King Saul – the first King Of Israel anointed by Samuel the prophet. One day Jonathon was out with his armor bearer (the guy who carried Jonathons gear) and they came upon a Philistine camp of soldiers.
When Jonathon saw the army of the Philistines ahead of him he did something that we can surely take note of and apply to our own faith. Let’s see what Jonathon says when he sees the Philistines, we know he could either be courageous or run away, let’s check it out!
Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, “Come, let’s go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised men. Perhaps the Lord will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few.” (1 Samuel 14:6)
Jonathon looked at his enemy and in the face of his opposition he said “perhaps the Lord will act in our behalf” how many of us can say we believe that right now?
To act in behalf of someone means this – “To do something for the benefit, interest or to support someone else.”
To act in behalf meant God was already there! Jonathon didn’t say “maybe God you’ll show up and act on our behalf.” Jonathon knew God was already present and he simply was saying “God I know your here, do something in our behalf.”
God is acting in YOUR behalf right now even if you can’t see it. He’s moving pieces in the right place all for you. God is out for your good! He’s not out to harm you or cause you pain… that’s what the enemy the devil does.
A couple of verses later is describes out God sent a panic to the Philistine army and that Jonathon was able to defeat them with the help of the Lord. Just like God helped Jonathon defeat his army, He wants to help you defeat yours.
What situation do you need God to act in your behalf in? Are you in desperate need of a spiritual awakening to feel close to God? Are you having difficulties in your family? Do you need financial resources because yours have been eluding you during the pandemic? What is it that you need God to do in your behalf?
I urge and call on you to name whatever it is you need God to do. Name the situation you need Him to move in and ask Him to move in your behalf. You can say something like Jonathon did.
“God, I might be in this _____ situation but I know you are here and that you’ve never left me even if I feel that you have. I need you to move this mountain in my behalf. I need you to work in my behalf.”
God is good and He’s working for your good all in your behalf. Believe that today and know that your God is for you and not against you. He’s on your side, and He’s never not once lost a battle and He ain’t about to start now with you.
