A wild spirit is someone who isn’t afraid to take a risk. Isn’t afraid to try something new or do something bold for God.
A wild spirit is not something that’s easy to be in fact it’s probably the hardest thing we could possibly do. Why? Because when we are operating as a wild spirit we are putting what we want to the side. It longer matters what we want but only what God wants.
Living like that is super hard and believe me I know!
God once told me told me to pack up my stuff and move to Alaska and leave everything that was comfortable to me. That is insane to think about! Literally leaving all your family, your job, your home and everything that is normal to you. I’ll never forget asking God one afternoon “God is this really what you want me to do?” and the feeling I got on the inside I knew that I knew that I had to do it.
That didn’t stop me from being afraid though. I used this verse to comfort myself and to help get me through those times:
“So We can say with confidence; The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid: what can mere mortals do to me?” (Hebrews 13:6)
That verse helped me to make it through those times of thinking “Am I crazy?” and “Is God crazy?”
Making It Personal
You may not call yourself a wild spirit right now and that’s OK. But how do you think you could get there?
The best way to become a wild spirit is to start taking small steps for God and eventually they’ll lead to bigger ones. Like asking your coworker to go to church with you, or holding the door for someone, and even handing out an invite card to your church. Things like that will set the tone for you to eventually take bigger steps.
You will have those same questions that I had, “Am I crazy?” and believe me when I say this, when you start to try to do something big for God people will tell that you’re crazy and you don’t know what you’re doing. You can’t listen tho those people but instead let it affirm you that you’re making the right choice.
We all need to get to this place:
What if our work told us we were going to move to another country to work? We would say yes in a heartbeat more than likely.
What if God told us to quit our job and move to another country to start reaching people? The answer wouldn’t be such a quick yes would it.
We all need to get to the point where we aren’t afraid to try something new and take a risk for God. Doing this will open up so many doors that we have never seen before.
God has never called us to live comfortable christian lives. He’s called us to live boldly and advance the gospel.
- Have you asked God to start a work in you lately?
- What bold step could you begin to take?
